Last winter season, those who entered the BMW Freeride Photo and Video Contest had the opportunity to share their unique freeride experiences with us. Month by month the community got involved in the lively voting process to select the winning photos and videos from the many uploads. There were exciting prizes for the winners: a POWDERCHASE weekend or a two-day SAAC Basic Camp.

Anyone can save lives.

The Zillertal skiing area is a popular destination for Ski tourer and freerider:: Now a new joint project by Hochfügen Ski Lift Company and BMW makes an important contribution to your safety. On the freshly prepared “Avalanche rescue training ground powered by BMW”, winter sports enthusiasts can train for emergency situations during the 2015/2016 season on a daily basis, free of charge.

Freeride maps – our partner for safety and driving pleasure off the slopes.

This globally unique series of maps ensures freeride fans local insider knowledge instantly available at hand in their trouser pocket, at any time. Made of virtually indestructible tearproof and water-resistant material, the Freeride maps show ascent lines as well as all ridable slopes, drops and couloirs, with colour markings showing freeride corridors in three different difficulty ratings. Blue is for technical easy terrain, yellow requires advanced to very advanced ability and red shows very difficult to extreme terrain for professional riders only.

Sandra Lahnsteiner.

Sandra Lahnsteiner first put on skis at the tender age of two and a half years - and has taken them off as rarely as possible ever since. She discovered a passion for While being a skiing instructor of the ÖSV Ski Academy Sandra has discovered her passion for nature, mountains and especially off-piste skiing at an early age and has left her impressive tracks up until today. Having studied sports science at university, she is now not just an outstanding freeride athlete but also a successful film producer inspiring a large community of fans with her adventures.

Roman Rohrmoser.

Free-ride professional Roman Rohrmoser grew up in the Zillertal valley and first started skiing at the tender age of two. By the time he was 15 he had won numerous national and international prizes until he finally dedicated his efforts to his true passion: freeriding. Since then he has travelled worldwide shooting spectacular skiing films - always in search of the best powder and the best free-ride spots.

Felix Wiemers.

Growing up in the Hessian town of Biedenkopf, Felix’s path to become a ski professional was a rather unusual one. He toured the sports halls of Germany as a gymnast and even became the German runner-up with his team in 2013. For some years he has been doing also very well on skis and is very successful on the Freeride World Tour and at film and photo shootings.
