The legendary City Biathlon is set to take place for the 21th time in Garmisch-Partenkirchen this winter – and it is an absolute top-class sporting event that you will not want to miss. On 30 December 2016, the members of the worldwide biathlon elite will be coming together to compete for the coveted victory in this competition, set in the unique location of Garmish's pedestrian area.

It is no coincidence that Garmisch-Partenkirchen hosted the Ski World Cup in 2011 – and that it has been earmarked as the ski area in Munich's 2018 bid for the Olympics. Here, at 2,720 metres above sea level, is the Zugspitzplatt, Germany's only glacier ski area. There are also some classic ski slopes.
